TRENDS IN TRAVEL FOR 2023

As we move into 2023, many of us are looking forward to the opportunity to discover new places and enjoy new experiences. The time is now to start planning those much-anticipated trips! But what will the travel trends of 2023 look like? In this blog post, we’ll explore some of the most exciting trends in travel this year, from the return of cruise ships to the growing popularity of meaningful tourism. So get ready to start packing your bags and explore the world in 2023!

Off Grid Travel

Off-grid travel is an exciting and increasingly popular way to explore the world while embracing a more sustainable lifestyle. From camping in the wilderness to sailing around the world, off-grid travel allows you to experience the world in a way that is entirely disconnected from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, a “digital detox” of sorts. Maybe your new year’s resolution is spending less time on-screen. What would you say to spending a few nights somewhere remote with no wifi? Sounds kind of nice, doesn’t it?

Set-Jetting

Set-jetting is the practice of traveling to the filming locations of popular movies and TV shows. It is becoming increasingly popular as fans have become more connected with the films and shows they love (hello White Lotus and Emily in Paris)! Movies and TV shows have become more integrated into our lives, and fans have become attached to the characters and the places they visit. This has led many to want to do more than just watch the show or movie – they want to actually visit the place they’ve seen on the screen. So why is set-jetting becoming so popular? It’s a great way to be a part of a movie or show that you love – you actually get to experience the place that you’ve seen on the screen, and that’s undeniably cool.

Cruise Ships

Some say we’re basically post-pandemic, others disagree, but most of us are looking for the best way to get back to the life we knew before. Cruise ships have long been a popular option for people looking for a little bit of luxury, and the post-pandemic era looks set to see a surge in popularity for these types of holidays. In part, this is due to the fact that cruise ships are able to provide a sense of security for guests. With increased safety regulations, cruise ship operators are able to ensure that their ships are well equipped to protect their passengers. This means that those looking for a little more security than a traditional holiday can rest assured that they will be in safe hands. Of course, everyone is looking for a good deal in the post-pandemic era. Cruise ships have the advantage of being able to offer competitive prices for their services, as well as a range of discounts and deals. This makes them a great option for those looking to get the most bang for their buck.

Meaningful Travel & Indigenous Tourism

Sometimes going on a trip is not just about sightseeing or checking off a list of attractions, but about having an authentic experience that helps to broaden your horizons and connect with people, places, and cultures. One of the fastest growing trends in meaningful travel is Indigenous tourism, which is focused on educating travelers about the customs and traditions of native cultures. Visiting Indigenous communities allows travelers to gain a greater understanding of the people and their way of life, while also helping to support the local economy. Indigenous tourism can involve anything from learning about traditional crafts to participating in cultural ceremonies. It can also include tours of ancient sites, hikes through the local landscape, and visits to historical monuments. Many Indigenous communities also offer educational programs and workshops, so travelers can learn more about the history and culture of the area. We use the word “trend”, but we believe this category of tourism is here to stay!

Adventure Travel

Adventure travel has been growing in popularity over the past few years, and it’s no wonder why. Whether you’re looking for a thrilling wilderness experience, a cultural immersion, or a unique way to explore a new destination, adventure travel provides the opportunity to do it all! From mountain biking and whitewater rafting to trekking and kayaking, there are a multitude of activities that fit the definition of “adventure travel”. After being cooped up indoors during the pandemic, many travelers are looking to get their heart rates up (in a good way). We’re all for it!

Bleisure

Bleisure (get it? Business and leisure) travel is predicted to be on the rise in 2023 as more and more people are combining business trips with leisure trips. Whether it’s adding on a couple of extra days to your business trip for some sight-seeing, or managing to keep working remotely while abroad, this multi-tasking method is kind of a no-brainer when you think about it. The rise of remote employees from the pandemic has this trend growing fast, as many companies have shifted their opinions about “working from home”. So what? You have to spend a few hours working at your hotel desk in Italy? Sounds pretty appealing to us.
